Supervision of theatre staff and their work, including preparing duty rosters
Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, confidentiality, privacy and checklists in place for safe and high-quality care
Daily planning and efficient implementation of Theatre schedule
Oversee pre- to post-operative care to ensure safe surgeries and excellent outcomes
Participate or assist in surgical procedures – laparoscopic and complex procedures
Build strong relationships with theatre users, including surgeons and anesthetists
Oversee the day case admission desk and client experience operations, including booking, discharge, and addressing patient, families, and doctor concerns.
Proactively work with other departmental heads to improve services
Stewardship of theatre equipment, instruments, and infrastructure, maintaining an inventory, proper usage, storage and ensuring preventing maintenance
Supervise sterilization services and other infection control and prevention measures
Stock management of theatre consumables
Maintain accurate records and registers, including billings, incidents, patient notes and surgical cases
Participate in formulating operating theatre processes and procedures, budgets, and guiding investments into theatre services.
Monitor fiscal budget to control operational and capital expenditures to improve unit productivity
Lead the implementation of all quality improvement initiatives and risk management programs
Coaching and developing new and existing staff, transforming quality, and instilling good theatre practices.
Any other duty as assigned by the supervisor in line with the job description
Personal Specifications
BSc. Nursing or KRN, KRM, KRCHN
Higher diploma in perioperative training (KRPON)
BLS and ACLS certification
Endoscopy /laparoscopy training
