WEB DEVELOPER

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB.

Reporting to the Reader Revenue Manager, the incumbent is responsible for developing applications and updating existing products to adapt to the changing technologies.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Developing web applications and updating existing products to adapt to the changing technologies;
  • Supporting Editorial and video team with SEO and development of microsites.
  • Troubleshooting, debug and upgrade existing platforms.
  • Backing up files from Web sites to local directories for recovery.
  • Monitor website performance and ensure stability.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI and Web designers in developing and optimizing web applications to enhance user experience.
  • Work with other developers and Server Admin to ensure regular file and database backups to local directories for recovery
  • Training the support, data and editorial team on how to use the developed web application.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent from a recognised institution.
  • 2-3 years’ work relevant work experience and deep understanding of digital space.
  • Proficient in PHP(Laravel), JQuery, HTML5, CSS and VueJS
  • Experience with large-scale distributed storage and database systems (SQL or NoSQL, e.g. MySQL, MongoDB)
  • Robust knowledge of mobile apps development in native Android.
  • Experience working in Unix/Linux environments.
