An established leisure camp in Nanyuki is located a few minutes' drive from Nanyuki town. They seek to hire a competent Human Resources Officer for the overall management of the HR Department handling staffing, training and development, performance monitoring, employee welfare, and the overall management of the HR office environment. 

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development and preparation of the Camp’s work plan, budget, and quarterly and annual reports.
  • Deliver HR policies and practices that are compliant with corporate guidelines, labour and Manpower Regulations, Social Framework and EHS rules. 
  • Performance Appraisal of employees and job grading
  • Supervise day-to-day operations of all HR and administrative support areas to ensure the smooth running of the camp.
  • In-charge of the payroll system maintenance which entails staff data input.
  • Administration of staff welfare & benefits requirements and leave management
  • Participate in recruitment and selection of staff including preparation of job adverts, shortlisting, interviewing, reference checking, and making offers to candidates.
  • Develop orientation programs and oversee staff induction for new hires.
  • Conduct training needs assessment for direct reports and coordinate organization-wide training needs assessment in liaison with Heads of Departments and organize staff training sessions, workshops, and activities.
  • Receive, analyze, and follow up to ensure the resolution of employee grievances and complaints as per the HR policy.
  • Ensure safe custody of relevant employee records- define file thresholds.
  • Participate in drafting policies and procedures papers on human resources and administration matters for consideration and approval by the Company.
  • Coordinate the implementation of the process of the performance management system.
  • Provide feedback to enhance business processes and initiate process improvement to achieve operational excellence.
  • Develop individual work plans, monitor own performance, and seek requisite support to ensure delivery of agreed targets.
  • Lead employee engagement & change initiatives 
  • Advise the Director on best HR practises for the camp

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A Degree/Diploma in Human Resources Management 
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a human resources position.
  • Must be a member of IHRM
  • Encouraging to team and staff; able to mentor and lead
  • Able present company mission and history clearly and confidently.
  • Great people-persona with skills and professional attitude.
  • Excellent computer skills, knowledge of Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and demonstrated skills in database management and record keeping.
  • General knowledge of employment laws and best practices.
