About the Role
One Acre Fund has entered into a partnership with Mastercard Foundation to strengthen our Kenya country program to better support dignified youth livelihoods over the next 4 years.
You will lead the coordination and monitoring of main activities associated with the program delivered through multiple internal departments and external partners.
Main activities include:
- Provide digitally-enabled agricultural services to youth
- Bring youth into high-value crop commercialization
- Transform youth agricultural livelihoods via micro-entrepreneurship
- You will report to a leader on our Global Business Development & Partnerships team while also working with Kenya country program team members.
Responsibilities
Program management
- Support preparation of all reporting associated with the program, including general updates, milestone progress, and financial reporting in collaboration with the Business Development team and the Kenya program team
- Monitor the status of budget utilization; work with Grants Finance to track budget-vs-actuals across main grant metrics
- Lead project management by creating workflows and a matrix of responsibilities for several grant workstreams
- Coordinate Mastercard Foundation site visits (likely 2-3x per year)
Stakeholder management
- Work with both internal teams and sub-grantee partner staff to set clear and transparent reporting criteria and schedules
- Ensure reporting and deliverables submission
- Facilitate coordination between One Acre Fund, Mastercard Foundation and other partners to ensure understanding including facilitating multi-stakeholder workshops
- Coordinate with One Acre Fund's and Mastercard Foundation's government relations teams on efforts to create a pro-youth policy environment
- Coordinate with main actors in the ecosystem to create systems-level improvements in youth agriculture in Kenya
Project strategy and implementation
- Coordinate overall project strategy working with Kenya program team members and partner organizations to ensure delivery of all program goals
- Be a partner to Kenya program team members in planning for and tracking main project activities
- Coordinate with One Acre Fund's and Mastercard Foundation's MEL teams (and potentially third-party evaluators) to measure and improve youth programs
- Monitor potential risks and project implementation challenges and work towards seeking solutions in collaboration with all project staff and partners
Qualifications
Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:
- 5 to 8+ years of work experience in one of our countries of operation in dynamic organizations is required
- Backgrounds in any (not all) of the following: agriculture, youth programming, rural development, project management, grant management
- Experience working on or managing rural development programs
- Project management skills including planning projects, assessing risks and opportunities, creating budgets, communicating with partners, troubleshooting problems
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and adequately engage stakeholders throughout the grant implementation process
- High level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Advanced computer skills (in particular, developing Word forms/templates, and complex Excel functions)
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent
