About the Role

Purpose and Scope of Assignment

Digital Donor Acquisition 

  • Monitor digital fundraising channel budgets and income and ensure that digital budgets are being used effectively to meet long and short-term fundraising KPIs. Ensure accurate reporting and monitoring.
  • Optimizing all aspects of digital fundraising and marketing, including paid/organic media approaches, crowdfunding, social media fundraising, influencer fundraising, lead generation and conversion campaigns. 
  • Developing new testing strategies and optimisation mechanisms to ensure effective growth and positive ROI.
  • Developing the strategy and execution of digital marketing in key countries – South Africa, Kenya, Mauritius, and Nigeria.
  • Set-up digital marketing tests (including set up of infrastructure and tagging), manage and optimise paid media activities, monitor fundraising results and optimise paid marketing activities.
  • Build and implement conversion strategies to convert non-financial supporters into donors. 
  • Ensure digital fundraising opportunities are effectively capitalised on during emergencies and key media moments within 24 hours of receiving the green light from HQ.
  • Work closely with the agencies, constantly seek new fundraising channels and fully utilise the existing channels to help achieve the ROI and the income target.
  • Support with the development and coordination of regional digital campaigns and initiatives for lead generation and donor acquisition.
  • Follow and identify digital trends and tools that can impact UNHCR’s digital engagement approach in Africa.
  • Assist in developing annual plans and investment applications for digital marketing activities.

Retention 

  • Work closely with the donor development function to maximize retention income through the delivery of excellent and timely engagement via appropriate communication tools. 
  • Support with establishing strategies and execute activities for donor development programme including OO -> RG conversion, RG gift upgrade, and lapsed donor reactivation to maximise retention income.

Analysis, Reporting and Planning

  • Produce regular reports on key metrics, analysing and interpreting trends and providing actionable insights.
  • Perform ROI analysis to evaluate the efficiency and draw learnings from all fundraising campaigns.
  • Follow and identify digital trends and tools that can impact UNHCR’s digital fundraising approach.
  • Analysing user behaviour, conversion data, funnel analysis and multi-channel attribution.
  • Using available data sources to deep dive and troubleshoot campaign (and overall) performance issues and propose methodical optimisation tests, both on-site and campaign based, to grow donations.

Contents

  • Create digital donation landing pages on time and keep maintenance activities.
  • Constantly conduct A/B or multivariate tests on digital landing pages, advertising assets, and digital content to improve results and cumulate learnings.
  • Work closely with the Campaigns team to produce digital acquisition and engagement content.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Monitoring and Progress Controls

  • Support achieving the donor acquisition and retention income target, a number of donors, and lead generation by building deeper engagement with online donors.
  • Increased user engagement on website and social network traffic. 
  • Build-up supporter base for UNHCR in Africa.
  • Increased awareness of refugee causes by the public.

Qualifications and Experience

Education 

  • University degree in Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, Advertising and/ or a related field.

Work Experience 

(List number of years and area of required work experience. Clearly distinguish between required experience and experience which could be an asset.)

  • For LICA-8/P1/NOA - 1-year relevant experience with Undergraduate degree; or no experience with Graduate degree; or no experience with Doctorate degree.
  • Experience working in a digital marketing or professional services setting required.
  • Knowledge and experience generating accurate and insightful reports for making effective business decisions required.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with various stakeholders to complete assigned tasks and projects before the deadline.
  • Proven experience in organisation website and donation page content management systems, as well as social media content creation and community management required.
  • Proven experience in assisting the development of digital marketing or engagement strategies through Google Marketing Platform, social media and social influencer marketing, SEO/SEM, programmatic, display advertising, email marketing, digital video marketing, mobile marketing, etc. required.
  • Experience with analytical tools, analysis, reporting, and researching required.
  • Experience in managing internal stakeholders, external vendors, clients, and partners required.
  • Experience with social media on a professional level desired.
