About the Role

Brief Description

Reporting to the Technical Lead - Enterprise Integration and Contact Center Planning, the position holder will be responsible for development of scalable and highly available software solutions to ensure efficient service delivery across lead to order, order to cash and cash to care journeys. This includes but not limited to building new solutions, evolving legacy applications, performance management, maintenance, and fault management, coaching and mentoring engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set the team’s priorities and align on the deliverables that support implementation of Safaricom’s strategy. Define the short- and medium-term technical roadmap for the applications in scope.
  • Provide technical expertise across design, development, and deployment to deliver scalable solutions.
  • Define coding standards, write code, and execute code reviews.
  • Plan the release scheduled and coordinate production deployments while ensuring proper alignment of all stakeholders and unlocking of any technical dependencies.
  • Manage events and incidents in the production environments and ensure resolution within target recovery time. Undertake root cause analysis
  • Engaging stakeholders across different business units on continuous service improvement initiatives update on progress to closure manage any impediments.
  • Undertake regular one on ones, performance reviews and mentorship of team members to ensure optimal performance.

Qualifications

  • University Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 5 years’ experience in software development using one or more programming languages e.g., Java, C#, JavaScript, Python etc.
  • Hands on experience in implementation of microservices and solid understanding of cloud infrastructure & continuous integration tools such as Git, Jenkins,
  • Extensive experience with data management i.e., relational and NoSQL databases, Messaging / Event Streaming, and Caching.
