About the Role

CURE International has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Programs at its regional office in Nairobi, Kenya. CURE is a faith-based non-profit organization operating a network of eight children’s hospitals throughout Africa and the Philippines. We provide world-class surgical care and intentional spiritual care to children living with treatable disabilities, all of which is free of charge to the patients and their families.

The Director of Programs will serve as a key leader in the organization and will be responsible for using and analyzing data across various departments to solve problems and implement processes that ensure the highest quality of care for our patients. This individual will lead and support key strategic initiatives across CURE's network of hospitals, including the full rollout of CURE’s EMR system, generation and implementation of SafeCare policies and procedures, and maintenance of national and organizational compliance requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES: * Support the full rollout of CURE’s EMR system, including the development and deployment of new processes and procedures to help improve efficiency and patient communication.

  • Gather and scrutinize EMR data to generate information that helps others make decisions.
  • Set up standardized processes and systems to make working with data more efficient.
  • Produce reports and charts communicating trends across the network.
  • In conjunction with the Chief Program Officer (CPO) and Executive Directors, facilitate the strategic and sustainability planning of the hospitals.
  • Support the CPO in the identification and resolution of operational issues across the network.
  • Work in conjunction with department heads (Head of Facilities; Head of Spiritual Ministry; Head of Nursing, Quality and Patient Safety) to resolve operational issues and contribute meaningfully to projects.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Directors and the Finance Team at the Mission Support Center (MSC) on providing high level oversight to, and maintain accountability for, financial management issues, transactions and reporting at the hospitals.
  • Work closely with the Executive Directors to ensure that all reports are submitted on time and perform an initial review of the reports highlighting areas of concern or focus for the CPO.
  • In conjunction with the CPO, the Executive Directors and the MSC Legal team, ensure hospital compliance with all local laws; maintain overall accountability for the ongoing legitimacy of each hospital’s legal status in the country in which it is located.
  • In conjunction with the Head of Nursing, Quality and Patient Safety, ensure that the hospitals maintain compliance with all country medical laws and statutes, as well as with CURE quality and patient care standards.
  • In conjunction with the Head of Nursing, Quality & Patient Safety, analyze results and help to operationalize improvements to SafeCare internal audits and ensure that the hospitals do their quarterly audits.
  • Follow up on all SafeCare improvement plans with the Executive Director and report any non-compliance to the Chief Program Officer.
  • Participate in regular Executive Director’s meetings hosted by the CPO; write meeting minutes and follow up on action items.
  • Rollout new operational policies according to SafeCare guidelines for the organization.
  • Ensure systems are in place to monitor and evaluate performance against service objectives.
  • Identify any impediments to the smooth running of the hospital systems and provide solutions.
  • Review the hospital's risk register and put in place mitigation strategies against these risks.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE: * Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration or Healthcare Management, Business Administration or Business Management, or a related field.

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience managing a team of professionals, preferably as a healthcare administrator or hospital operations manager.
  • Experience with strategic planning, business plan development, and annual budget programming.
  • Excellent computer skills and understanding of reporting & data visualization tools.
  • Ability to assess risk, implement strategy, and measure performance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills - the ability to identify trends, patterns and insights from data.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage change for oneself and for others.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with people who work at all levels in an organization, and who represent a variety of diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to travel internationally approximately 20% of the time.
  • Demonstration of a mature Christian faith with a close personal relationship to and love for the Word of God, and a call to evangelism.
