Act as the main point of contact for Insurance for the East Africa region
Manage the East Africa broker relationships
Gather, review and present renewal information for East Africa insurance placements
Make recommendations for rating, wording and insurers within the East Africa region to Senior Director Risk Insurance & Welfare
Identify new insurable risks within the Business and make recommendations for effective management of the risks
Work with the Operations and Compliance teams in the East Africa locations to implement and risk mitigation measures and strategy
Chair the East Africa Risk & Audit working group and communicate the findings to the Senior Director, Risk, Insurance and Welfare
Work with the Senior Director Risk, Insurance & Welfare to report to the organisation on cover arrangements, premiums and recoveries
Review and negotiate contractual insurance obligations placed on the organisation
Manage (with the Legal Department) the liability claims notification process to insurers so that the insurers have sufficient information to investigate claims
Monitor and report to the Senior Director Risk, Insurance & Welfare on the effectiveness of the insurer’s claims handling service
Work with each East Africa HR team to place and manage appropriate medical insurance policies for each region, or as needed
Be responsible for the implementation and management of the claims process and ensure this is being followed by each of the East Africa locations
Be accountable for high profile or high values claims for the East Africa region
Monitor and review claims within each of the East Africa locations to help identify trends
Identify areas for improved risk management practices within the organisation
Wherever possible, ensure the terms and conditions of contracts are clear and robust in relation to all matters insurance, provide bid, and contract negotiation support as needed.
Maintain and insurance specific SOP’s and ensure any updates to procedures are communicated to the relevant stakeholders
Conduct regular reviews of existing processes and recommend changes to the Senior Director Risk, Insurance and Welfare
Resolve insurance queries from departments and third parties
Ensure all policies are filed on the company shared filing system and any necessary certificates of cover are provided by the broker

Authority
As directed and delegated by Senior Director Risk, Insurance and Welfare and per GardaWorld Authority Matrix
Experience
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business or equivalent
Chartered Insurance Institute [CII] qualification preferred
Experience of interacting with national/international financial institutions and insurance counterparts and service providers
Expert knowledge of Insurance management principles, regulatory requirements
