Job Competencies (Knowledge, Experience and Attributes / Skills):
Academic Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in any of the following: Business Administration, Social Sciences, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Electronics or related field from a recognized institution or equivalent qualifications.
  • A first level university degree in any of the following fields from a recognized institution; Business Administration, Social Sciences, Economics, Finance, Engineering or Electronics combined with the required work experience may be accepted in lieu of the Master’s degree.

Professional Qualifications / Membership to professional bodies: 

  • Undertaken a Strategic Leadership/Management course from a recognized institution.
  • Proficient knowledge of corporate governance, procurement laws, and current industry related issues and trends at national, regional, and international levels, including in-depth understanding of ship building in the global marketplace.
  • Proficiency in Computer Applications.

Previous relevant work experience required:

  • At least fifteen (15) years’ working experience, five (5) years of which should be in a managerial position in the following areas: 
  • Technical experience in Maritime/Marine and Military Naval Systems.
  • Managing maritime large projects of not less than KSh 6 billion.
  • Experience in the management of shipyards and/or directing ship construction at a managerial level.
  • Experience in the Disciplined Services at managerial/senior command of at least 15 years is desirable

  • A valid Clearance Certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
  • A valid Clearance Certificate from an Approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
  • A valid Clearance form from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
