Job Competencies (Knowledge, Experience and Attributes / Skills):
Academic Qualifications:

• Master’s degree Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Marine Engineering from a recognized institution or similar qualification from an accredited university/college with a strong technical background.
• First level university degree in the following fields: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Marine Engineering from a recognized institution or similar qualification with a strong technical background combined with the required work experience may be accepted in lieu of the Master’s degree.

Professional Qualifications:

• Professional qualification / certification as applicable.
• Ability to understand and administer ABS Classification guidelines, USCG and SOLAS and IMO requirements.
• Undertaken a Leadership/Management course from a recognized institution.
• Considerable knowledge in all areas of shipbuilding and repair, material handling, labor, safety and product related state and federal regulations and practices.
• Proficient in Computer aided applications.

Previous relevant work experience required:

• At least twelve (12) years’ working experience, five (5) years of which should be in a managerial position in the following areas: 
• Shipyard/dockyard manager
• Technical experience in Maritime/Marine and Military Naval Systems. 
• Experience in the management of shipyards and/or supervising ship maintenance, repair and overhaul at a managerial level. International experience in a similar role in an established shipyard will be an added advantage

• A valid Clearance form from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
