Core Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the implementation of legal and governance policies, systems, and procedures, in line with the Company’s strategy.
  • Develop and lead corporate legal strategy to promote and protect the company's matters.
  • Oversee delivery of legal services and resources to accomplish corporate goals, strategies, and priorities.
  • Review the progress of outstanding litigation and liaise with and manage external lawyers.
  • Identify Company legal needs and develop efficient resource smart solutions including developing a network of outside counsel and pro-bono relationships.
  • Liaise with relevant departments to ensure that where legal risks have been identified, appropriate courses of action have been taken.
  • Provide legal protection and risk management advice to management, especially on contract management.
  • Provide and interpret legal information, conduct training, and disseminate appropriate legal requirements to staff.
  • Review ongoing cases and advise management accordingly.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution of higher learning. 
  • A Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law or other recognized institution.
  • Be admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
  • 5 years’ post-admission experience as a Legal Officer or Advocate.
  • Membership to the Law Society of Kenya.
  • Good mediation and conflict resolution skills and a proven track record of excellent legal advice.
  • Possess good written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications; and 
  • Must fulfill requirements of chapter six (6) of the Kenyan Constitution
