Our client (Virtual Pay International LTD), a global payments provider is looking to recruit a Head of Legal & Compliance. The primary role for this position is to oversee the Group L&C team, providing legal and compliance advice to executive management and all internal stakeholders on legal and compliance matters across different jurisdictions. The Ideal candidate should be working in the same position in fintech or banking industry.

Key Requirements:

  • Develop compliance strategies and plans to ensure the adequacy of processes and controls across the business.
  • Oversee the legal function to deliver a practical and accurate interpretation of and guidance on a wide range of legislative provisions impacting business across the globe.
  • Deliver regular reports to the Board in relation to key legal and compliance changes, risks, and controls.
  • Manage a portfolio of contracts and negotiate service level agreements. Will also plan, coordinate, and supervise activities relating to major contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with regulators’, card schemes’, and banking partners’ regulatory guidelines.
  • Review and approve products, services and processes from a compliance and legal viewpoint.
  • Mitigate compliance risks, implementing the legal and regulatory compliance program to ensure that the business complies with local and international payments legislation and regulation.
  • Review and provide recommendations on the legal aspects and considerations for resolving issues that arise in existing commercial relationships and handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries.
  • Monitor changes to regulatory requirements and proactively handle regulatory developments and compliance updates in the jurisdictions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law or other related fields.
  • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in legal and compliance with at least 3 years in a senior leadership position.
  • Strong management and team leadership skills.
  • Experience in banking and finance/financial services/fintech/payments or technology industry preferred.
