The Role

St Andrew’s, Prep School is seeking to appoint a Database and Network Administrator who will be responsible for ensuring that users can securely input and access accurate data and provide oversight of intranets, wide area networks, local area networks and the internet.  S/he will work closely with the I.T. Manager to monitor the performance of computer systems and network and to ensure availability to all system users and may perform necessary maintenance/mitigation and all configurations across the whole School.

Key areas of responsibility will be to:-

  • To handle the administration of the School Management Information System
  • Man the helpdesk during the designated shift.
  • Attend the helpdesk calls and provide support where required.
  • Respond to user's queries
  • Monitor the performance of computer systems and networks to ensure availability to all system users. 
  • Implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
  • Perform testing procedures on computer hardware, software, and operating systems before rollout.
  • Analysing user requirements
  • Documenting new and existing systems.
  • Performing maintenance of existing applications
  • Perform other duties as requested from time to time.

There are some things that are essential to working with us:

  • The successful candidate will need to be able to support the School’s aims and Christian ethos.
  • They will have to have a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least three years of relevant professional experience
  • Knowledge in Microsoft SQL Server Database Management
  • Knowledge in Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services
  • Communication & Documentation Skills
  • Flexibility in working shift work, weekends and late nights.
