Gross Salary: Ksh 200,000 – 250,000,

Our client is a leading general manufacturing company seeking to hire a Procurement Manager who will be responsible for strategizing and negotiating with suppliers and vendors in order to acquire the most cost-effective deals and reduce procurement expenses. The role holder will be an astute and highly dependable individual to maintain positive supplier and key stakeholder relations, evaluating supply options, purchasing goods and services, and maintaining accurate records. 

Duties & Responsibilities

• Developing a strategic approach to cost-effective sourcing and delivery of goods, services, and/or equipment’s. This includes Monitoring, reviewing and analyzing bids and quotes with suppliers.
• Manage development, preparation and negotiations of contracts, agreement and ensure all contracts renewals reviews are done on time with adequate risk management. This includes developing and implementing sourcing strategies for spend management, supplier development and management, category buying, contracts, vendor-managed inventory, and rating processes amongst others.
• Sourcing and engaging reliable suppliers and vendors, supplier evaluation and contracts management; this include management of strategic sourcing.
• Own & drive policies, planning and procedures for efficiently, honestly, economically and productively procurement of good and services. This includes Collaboration with suppliers and company’s Staff on policies and quality.
• Lead supplier pre-qualification, selection and development processes, quotation, and tender processes in a timely and transparent manner.
• Manage Procurement budget and progressively drive a long-term saving on procurement costs.
• Contribute to lead-time reduction and demand management initiatives to optimize inventory levels.
• Provide support and guidance to user departments in the development of specifications.
• Liaising closely with Shipping /Freight Forwarding agents for timely import and export delivery & receipt of imported and exported items.
• Preparation of Requests for Quotation, Initiations to Bid, Requests for Proposal and coordination of their timely dispatch.
• Approving purchase orders and organizing and confirming delivery of goods and services.
• Management and disposal of wastes: Chips & scraps, Defective products and Chemical wastes in liaison with other departments.
• Oversee and supervise activities of the purchasing department in a timely manner and provide timely feedback to relevant stakeholders
• Overseeing and managing the IT systems that track shipments, inventory, and the supply of goods.
• Supplier Reviews and Evaluations-Manage supplier information such as qualifications, delivery times, product ranges, performance etc.
• Market Surveillance & Research and evaluate prospective suppliers.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, or business administration.
• Minimum of 5 years of procurement experience in a busy manufacturing environment.
• Experience in international shipping, logistics and inventory.
• Member of CIPS and or KISM is an added advantage
• In-depth knowledge of preparing and reviewing contracts, invoicing, and negotiation terms.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access).
• Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong leadership, analytical and organizational skills
• Excellent problem-solving capacity with demonstrated ability for considerable analysis and sound judgment to find solutions in a complex environment with shifting and competing priorities
• Executive disposition, and demonstrate high levels of integrity
• Ability to develop long-term integrated and cross-functional operational plans
