Job Summary
The job holder is answerable to the Senior Administrative Officer and is responsible for providing transport services in the Authority by driving motor vehicles, ensuring their cleanliness, fueling, security, servicing, repair & maintenance and filing of transport records.
Duties and Responsibilities
a) Drive assigned and authorized motor vehicle;
b) Carry out routine checks on the motor vehicle's coolant, oil, electrical and braking system, tyre pressure and other areas;
c) Detect and report defective systems of the assigned motor vehicle;
d) Ensure vehicle dealers and garages service, repair and maintain vehicles;
e) Maintain work tickets for assigned motor vehicles;
f) Ensure safety and security of the motor vehicles while on and or off the road;
g) Ensure safety and security of the passengers and goods in the assigned motor vehicle;
h) Maintain cleanliness of the assigned motor vehicles;
i) Ensure the assigned motor vehicle is fueled and quantities of fuel drawn recorded in the work ticket;
j) Ensure the assigned motor vehicle has a valid insurance certificate displayed;
k) Report any accidents and incidents to the supervisor and/or nearest police station;
1) Monitor and report expiry of motor insurance policy and inspection certificates to the supervisor; and
m) Perform any other lawful duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience
For appointment to this position, the ideal candidate must have:
a) Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Mean Grade D Plain;
b) Proficiency in computer applications;
c) A valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for the classes of vehicles.
d) Occupational Trade Test III for drivers.
e) Defensive Driving Certificate from the Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
f) A refresher course for drivers lasting not less than one (1) week at the Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution.
g) A valid Certificate of Good Conduct
h) A valid First Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week from St. John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway & Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution.
i) At least three (3) years driving experience in the public service or private sector; and
j) Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.

b) Computing skills & knowledge especially on Microsoft office, Enterprise Resource Planning;
c) Driving skills;
d) Skills in occupational safety & health; and
e) Skills in First Aid.
