Assist with financial planning, including preparation of project budgets, project cash flow forecasts and implementing appropriate budgetary controls.
Producing monthly actual vs budget (variance) reports for programmes and holding monthly meetings with Portfolio teams to review the reports.
Ensure timely processing of programme financial and accounting data, confirming such data is in accordance with the laid down procedures and policies, accurate, complete, adequately supported by all underlying appropriate documents, correctly assigned to appropriate expenses and project budget lines and donor conditions.
Monthly review of project ledger ensuring accuracy of postings and that they align to programme design and budgets.
Review commitments in the ERP on a regular basis ensuring they are accurate
Prepare bank reconciliation statements for select bank accounts on a monthly basis
Maintain primary relationship with donors and correspond with donors on all requests and questions relating to budgets and donor financial reports.
Tracking of cost share for programs which require contribution
Assist in external audit coordination of the project including preparation relevant audit schedules or as may be assigned.
Preparation of project financial reports in a timely manner ensuring they are prepared in line with programme reporting templates, are accurate, and adhere to donor and AECF policies.
Review and approve travel advance requests upon reaching Finance for budget availability and proper coding prior to payment
Review and approve travel surrenders ensuring they are properly supported and charged to the correct projects and other dimensions
Ensure proper management of travel advances as per policy
Support of proposal budgets
Required qualifications and experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Commerce or Finance from a recognized university.
Professional qualification in Finance (CPA, ACCA) or related field is mandatory
Membership to a Professional body
Demonstrable experience of at least five (5) years managing the finances of a >$20 million international non-profit organization with a mix of funding sources, preferably bilateral donors.
Experience with bilateral donors such as FCDO, GAC and SIDA a requirement.
Strong proficiency in advanced Excel features.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
Fluency in English required proficiency in additional languages – French is preferred.
