Job purpose

This role is responsible for providing guidance on labor laws and practices, as well as involvement in maintaining positive relationships.

Key Responsibilities/ Duties / Tasks

Managerial / Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to the code of conduct.
  • Day-to-day operations and supervision of staff in the unit.

Operational Responsibilities / Tasks

  • Implementing the disciplinary policy and procedures.
  • Liaise with Ethics and Integrity Unit on disciplinary matters.
  • Ensure proper interpretation and application of Labor laws.
  • Preparation of disciplinary cases for submission to disciplinary committee.
  • Receive and forward appeal requests and notification letters to committee.
  • Analyzing investigation reports to inform disciplinary action.
  • Preparation of legal instructions on disciplinary cases.
  • Providing secretarial services to disciplinary panel and Disciplinary Committee.
  • Communicating disciplinary actions to staff and stake holders.
  • Standing witness in Courts on Industrial matters.
  • Sensitizing staff on disciplinary matters.
  • Maintain ongoing and closed staff discipline files.
  • Liaising with Public Service commission on declaration of assets, wealth and liabilities.
  • Facilitate implementation of the work plans for the following corporate initiatives in the unit: Audit, Integrity, QMS and Risk Management.
  • Facilitate initiatives to improve ethics, culture and facilitate change management in the unit.

  • 90% of the wok is performed in the office, and the rest involves courts and labour relations

Job Competencies (Knowledge, Experience and Attributes / Skills).

Academic qualifications

  • A degree in Human Resource Management or related field from a recognized institution.

Professional Qualifications / Membership to professional bodies

  • Diploma in HR/Post graduate Diploma in HR/ Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP)
  • Membership to a Professional Body – IHRM

Previous relevant work experience required.

  • Minimum of 4 years work experience with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
