Summary

​A premier health service provider running a leading state of the art hospital facility in Nairobi with a number of
satelite branches around the city and upcountry. They have retained our servies to support the hiring process for a Chief Finance
& strategy Officer.
Reporting to the CEO and the board, the chief finance and strategy officer will support the process of managing the organization
in addition to providing end-to-end finance and accounting services.

Key Responsibilities:

​• Strategy formulation and execution- execution of the organizations 5 year strategy.
• Accounting systems: Develop and maintain appropriate financial records (including accounting software) and
supporting documentation in line with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local accounting
standards where applicable.
• Internal control systems: Develop and implement internal control systems and ensuring adherence to organization
policies and procedures.
• Reporting: Develop, implement and ensure all weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements are
prepared to a high standard of accuracy and per issued deadlines. This will include interpretation of financial reports to
management as well as providing appropriate commentary to financial performance and position.
• Forecasting/Budgeting: Prepare periodic forecast and annual budgets in accordance with organization reporting
requirements. Work closely with management and operations to prepare financial evaluations and projections.
• Cash flow Management / forecasting: Manage cash position within organization and prepare periodic cash flow
forecasts
• Statutory audits: Ensure annual financial audits are completed on time and to budget and that all filing requirements
are adhered to and address any matters raised during audits as per management letters.
• Fixed assets management: develop, implement and review fixed assets management policies and processes including
capitalization and disposal policies. Ensure adequate controls are in place to safeguard companies’ assets. Ensure
cost/benefit analysis is done for all Capex requisitions.
• Receivables management: Effectively manage relationships with its customers, ensure customer invoices are accurate
and timely, customer reconciliations are done promptly and debt collection is optimal always.
• Balance sheet reconciliations: Ensuring balance sheet account reconciliations (including bank reconciliation) are
performed monthly and are accurate and up to date.
• Payables management: Ensure adequate systems are put in place to ensure effective management of accounts
payables and procurement policies are adhered to.
• Confidentiality: Secure the company’s financial information and documents and keep the same confidential.
• Any other roles and responsibilities as assigned.

Skills and Experience:

• Experienced Finance/ accounting professional, with 7+ years post qualification experience, preferably working in
hospitality/ health /pharmaceutical sector.
• Experience within manufacturing, FMCG and the big 4 will also be considered.
• Demonstrable experience in the development and execution of organizational strategy.
• Experience with preparation of management accounts, financial reports and budgeting/ forecasting.
• Experience and proficiency in the use of accounting software. ERP or SAGE Experience will be an added advantage.
• Experience in managing, coaching, and building high-quality finance teams.
• Competent knowledge and use of MS Office and general IT skills.

Qualifications

• Relevant university degree (preferably in Accounting, Finance or Business Management).
• Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, or equivalent).
• Membership in a professional body.
• Relevant certifications in accounting and strategy.
